Fundraising
is a very important part of the Society's activities. The
backbone is our Membership Fee income, which is traditionally
kept at a level sufficient to meet the printing and distribution
costs of Gwili Messenger, our in-house magazine. This means
that all other income goes directly to the benefit of projects
on the Railway.
For example, recent GRPS Raffles have supported a variety of
different projects, which include the development of catering
outlets, the resurfacing of platforms, and even the provision
of toilet facilities at our Llwyfan Cerrig station. We also hold
at least one sponsored walk each year, often these are held on
our own eight-mile trackbed. The GRPS also has a very successful
300 Club (formerly the 200 Club, name changed due to expansion!),
which costs just £3.25 per quarter, or £13 per year. Regularly
drawn prizes vary from £10 to £50, so if you wish to take part
please click for the 300 Club Application
Form.
Did you know that you can raise funds for the GRPS without leaving
your armchair? Every time you order goods online, you can ensure
that a donation is made to the Gwili Railway by placing your
order through www.easyfundraising.org.uk. If you're not sure
how this is achieved, log on to www.easyfundraising.org.uk and
click on to their "How it Works" section. Once you
have registered you name and password, it's easy. Just make
sure Gwili Railway is your chosen beneficiary!
You could also help the GRPS by remembering us in your Will.
Whilst not a subject most of us like to talk about, we should
all make a Will at some point in our lives. So if you are thinking
of making a Will, or changing your existing Will, please remember
the Gwili Railway. It would be nice to think that some small
part of you remains with the Railway after you have gone. Any
legacies received are always used in an appropriate manner, such
as for the extension of the track. If you do chose to leave the
Gwili Railway Preservation Society a sum in your Will, rest assured
it will not be wasted. Should you wish to leave a sum to the
GRPS, the relevant details that your Solicitor may require are:
The Treasurer, Gwili Railway Preservation Society, c/o Bronwydd
Arms Station, Bronwydd, Carmarthen SA33 6HT.
The GRPS has a number of other income streams, including the
sale of Guide Books, second-hand books, and other memorabilia. We
even have a Wishing Well which is emptied regularly (not our Treasurer's
favourite job!). We are also grateful to receive donations,
however small, as these are always put to good use. Donations
can be sent to the GRPS, c/o Bronwydd Arms Station, Bronwydd,
Carmarthen SA33 6HT.
